During Saturday’s Pride Parade, there was also a small group of dissidents present. Judging by the banner they unfurled in the centre of Ljubljana, they do not agree with the new ideas of the progressive left. As the crowd of supporters of the LGBT agenda marched through the centre of our capital, the young dissidents, including the rising influencer and spokesperson of the Slovenian Democratic Youth (Slovenska demokratska mladina – SDM) – the youth wing of the Slovenian Democratic Party (Slovenska demokratska stranka – SDS) – Zala Klopčič, were subjected to hateful outbursts that forced the police to intervene.
“The fighters for acceptance and equality became aggressive towards dissenters at the parade, throwing glass bottles at us, throwing drinks at us, threatening us – even by name, as they obviously know the more prominent members of the Slovenian Democratic Youth very well. Their aggression was so severe that we had to resort to the help of the police. We had to be defended by ten police officers from the violence of the activists for peace and love,” the Slovenian Democratic Youth wrote.
And what was it that upset the participants of the Pride Parade? The banner simply read: “There are only two sexes.” The simple truth, which can be read in any biology textbook, earned them a barrage of insults and middle fingers. All this from people who claim to be tolerant – but apparently, only as long as you do not disagree with them on something. All this despite the fact that the Pride Parade should be, as the Slovenian Democratic Youth claims, “a space for the expression of different opinions.”
On Saturday, Slovenia hosted the Pride Parade, an event aimed at promoting tolerance, equality and acceptance of diversity among people. “It is regrettable that events that are supposed to celebrate freedom and diversity are turning into scenes of hatred and violence. This shows a lack of tolerance, which is what all parade participants should be expressing. It should be stressed that freedom of expression and opinion applies to all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or beliefs. Acceptance and tolerance should apply to everyone, not just those who identify as members of the #LGBT community. The behaviour of the Pride Parade participants who aggressively attacked the members of our party is unacceptable and expresses intolerance towards different views,” the Slovenian Democratic Youth wrote.
Grims congratulated the dissidents
SDS MP Branko Grims also noticed what happened on the Ljubljana streets and wrote the following response: “If you tell the truth in Slovenia under Golob’s totalitarianism: ‘There are only two sexes, male and female!’ you are treated by the police … Congratulations to the young people for their great T-shirts and the right banner!” From the video, it was clear that the police were writing up the young dissidents.
