The First March For Life Was Held Last Weekend In Koper

“An extraordinary March for Life through the promenades and streets of Koper! Thank you!!!!” Aleš Primc thanked all the participants of this year’s first March for Life in Koper. According to Primc, around a thousand pro-life supporters gathered at the rally.

On Sunday, the first of the three Marches for Life for those who appreciate life was held in Koper. They gathered in front of the Taverna in Koper at 11.00 a.m. and walked through the city streets. This was to bring their work and messages closer to the local environment. This year, the march was held under the motto, “Every unborn child is a human being!”

The miracle of life

Those gathered at the March for Life were first addressed by 52-year-old Aleksander Ninković from Koper, who survived an abortion but was left blind. He and his wife Nevenka described his life story to the crowd. His survival was a miracle.

The couple Tina and Aljoša Sabadin also shared their experience with the audience. In the third month of their pregnancy, their doctor told them that their child had a severe genetic defect. He suggested an amniocentesis, and if the diagnosis was confirmed, he suggested an abortion. But the Sabadin couple were ready to accept the baby regardless. They prayed a lot and eventually a perfectly healthy child was born, who is now 13 years old.

Urša Cankar Soares, coordinator of the Slovenian Marches for Life, which are taking place for the sixth year in a row, also addressed the participants. She pointed out that a child does not have the status of a human being in its mother’s womb before 22 weeks of age and, in some cases, even later. This is what the alleged experts have decided. Age is the dividing line that determines who is human and who is not. “This is not right,” she believes, adding that the line is illogical and unfair. “We all know very well that a baby in the mother’s belly is a human being even before the 22nd week. A human being is a human being from conception until natural death. Therefore, he or she deserves every protection throughout this time.”

The meeting was peaceful and joyful. In her speech, Urša Cankar Soares invited people to also attend the Marches for Life that are to be held in Maribor on Saturday, the 28th of September, and in Ljubljana, on the 5th of October.
