Will Golob Reveal The List Of “Janšaists” That Were Supposed To Be Purged From Public Institutions?

Immediately after coming to power, the government of Robert Golob started to draw up so-called “kill lists,” which included the names of civil servants who had been hired or promoted under the government of Janez Janša. However, according to Golob’s “confessions” at Wednesday’s press conference, it is becoming clear that there were also special lists for “removing” the wrong police officers – the so-called “Janšaists” (supporters of Janez Janša). We have sent a request to the government, asking them to send us the lists.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister revealed that it was actually Tatjana Bobnar who contacted him with the initiative to purge the police of Janšaists. He said, “I will now say one thing that is perhaps less well-known. It was Tatjana Bobnar who, even before the elections, when she was employed in the police, sought contact with me, she came to me twice on her own initiative, and she spoke to me about the list of Janšaists whom she would purge from the police if she only got the chance to become a minister.”

With his public confession, Golob first and foremost admitted that such lists, which only belong to the darkest chapters of Slovenian history, did exist. Secondly, he has once again exposed himself as a liar, since he claimed some time ago that he had only seen Tatjana Bobnar in person for the first time the day before her appointment, on the 31st of May 2022, as proven by a video that has made rounds online (and is available here: https://x.com/EdvardKadic/status/1846592750889648182?mx=2).

Janša: Just like in 1945

The fact that this was an admission by the Prime Minister who, after coming to power, resorted to chilling authoritarian practices, was also pointed out by the President of the Slovenian Democratic Party (Slovenska demokratska stranka – SDS) and former Prime Minister Janez Janša. “An admission. There were lists of people to be purged. Just like for concentration camps. Just like for the purges of 1945. And they preached about tolerance, cooperation, respect for diversity, professionalism, integration …,” he wrote.

The purge of the “Janšaists” and the dispute between Golob and Bobnar

After coming to power, the government of Robert Golob set about purging the so-called “Janšaists” from all key social subsystems. This was most pronounced in the police and public broadcasting. The purge at the country’s largest media outlet has even been publicly acknowledged by the Prime Minister on several occasions. This, of course, also took place in the police, until the conflict with the former Minister of the Interior, Tatjana Bobnar. She, together with former Director-General of the police, Boštjan Lindav, accused the Prime Minister of political pressure on the work of the police. Both the Minister and the Director disclosed their accusations in public letters.

The Minister of the Interior from the time of the Janez Janša government also responded to recent events. Aleš Hojs wrote in several posts on the social network X that “Bobnar is certainly telling the truth when she says that a lying narcissist interfered in the staffing of the police and demanded from them to follow his decisions on who should stay and who should not. The only embarrassing thing is that she only realised this when it was her people who were supposed to be purged from the police. As long as she was purging the Janšaists, she had no reservations.”

He later added: “The lying narcissist said that, as a police officer (!!), Bobnar had come to him with lists of who she was going to purge from the police, and then got the mandate (!!) for it. If this is true, the police should also file a criminal complaint against her, and President Nataša Pirc Musar should thank her for her cooperation.”

We have sent press enquiries to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Office of the President of the Republic, and the police asking for these lists. We will publish them when we receive them.
