Slovenia Has The Biggest Monthly Drop In Industrial Production

In April, industrial production in the euro area strengthened by 1 percent month-on-month, and by 0.7 percent in the European Union as a whole, the European statistical office Eurostat recently announced. Meanwhile, Slovenia recorded the biggest month-on-month fall in industrial production, as it is down by 7.9 percent.

Under the government of Robert Golob, there is virtually no area where our country has not faced a downturn. Just over a year ago, under the government of Janez Janša, we were at the top of the ranking of countries in terms of economic growth, but today the trend has completely reversed. The government of Robert Golob with the Freedom Movement party (Gibanje Svoboda), the Left party (Levica) and the Social Democrats (Socialni Demokrati – SD) has turned out to be a farce and a national disaster.

Among the Member States for which Eurostat has data, Ireland (+21.5 percent), Lithuania (+2.8 percent), and Sweden (+1.4 percent) recorded the highest monthly growth in industrial production. Slovenia recorded the largest monthly decline (-7.9 percent), followed by Portugal (-5.5 percent) and the Netherlands (-3.5 percent).

Among the Member States, the highest year-on-year growth in industrial production was recorded in Ireland (+22.5 percent), Malta (+14.3 percent) and Denmark (+12.2 percent). The largest year-on-year declines were recorded in Estonia (-15.1 percent), the Netherlands (-12.8 percent) and Bulgaria (-12.5 percent). Slovenia recorded an 8.8 percent year-on-year decline in industrial production.
