The latest public opinion poll, conducted for Nova24TV by Parsifal, shows that the majority of Slovenians support the Museum of Slovenian Independence and that statues of totalitarians have no place on the grounds of the Brdo International Protocol Building.
Namely, 44.7 percent of respondents believe that Slovenia needs the Museum of Slovenian Independence, while 37.9 percent of respondents believe that other museums adequately display Slovenian independence, and only 7.9 percent of respondents think that Slovenian independence does not need to be displayed in museums.
And after the Golob government made sure that the museum was abolished, Asta Vrečko, the Minister of Culture from the Left party (Levica), came up with the idea of returning the statues of Tito and other representatives of the previous communist regime to Brdo Park. This is the Slovenian political reality – instead of dealing with the serious problems that the crisis is causing citizens, the Golob government is engaging in ideological moves aimed at glorifying the communist regime, which systematically violated human rights and freedoms.
What do the respondents think?
According to the survey, the majority of respondents – 43.4 percent – are opposed to the placement of statues of Josip Broz – Tito on the grounds of the Brdo International Protocol Building, while 40.7 percent of respondents think that the government has acted appropriately.
The survey was conducted between the 5th and 8th of June, 2023. It included 725 adult respondents, all residents of the Republic of Slovenia. The survey was commissioned by Nova24TV.
