“During the Janša government, in order to reduce such abuses, we introduced the local jurisdiction of the administrative unit for registering residence. The Golob government ‘wisely’ abolished this measure and even boasted about it. So now, one can register as a resident in Ankaran at the administrative unit in Lendava.”
This is what Dr Božo Predalič, Secretary-General under the previous government, wrote on the X social network. Yesterday, the news that unknown persons were registering themselves in individual flats without the consent and knowledge of the owners caused great outrage on social networks.
Namely, the owner of a flat in one of the apartment buildings in Laško was extremely surprised when he checked at the administrative unit who all had registered their residence in his flat. He found that six foreigners had registered their residence in his flat, one of them even as a permanent resident.
Dr Predalič also responded to a user of the X social network, Carin, who wrote: “How is this possible? Isn’t the owner’s consent required? When we moved as a family to a new flat, formally owned by my husband, the administrative unit required his consent for me and the children to live at this address. All with the same surname. Isn’t this a sign that someone is corrupt at the administrative unit?” Dr Predalič wrote: “During the Janša government, in order to reduce such abuses, we introduced the local jurisdiction of the administrative unit for registering residence. The Golob government ‘wisely’ abolished this measure and even boasted about it. So now, one can register as a resident in Ankaran at the administrative unit in Lendava.”
The decision to put an end to fictitious residence registrations and the resulting abuse of social transfers was taken by the previous government at the end of 2020 and by the National Assembly at the beginning of March 2021.
The most striking finding was that as many as 265 foreigners were registered at the address of Tovarniška Street 6. This was then prevented, but what is happening now remains to be checked.
