By the time you read this, some of the information may already be out of date. I myself find it difficult, at least in time, to discern all the information about who in the coalition has quarrelled with whom, who has called for whom to resign, who is threatening whom, who is slandering whom, and more. But all this is the reality of the existing coalition.
This may come as a surprise to those who are not familiar with the situation, but it does not come as a surprise to many of us, including me. From the government of Borut Pahor in 2009, Alenka Bratušek in 2013 and Miro Cerar in 2014 to the government of Marjan Šarec in 2018, the situation has always been exactly the same.
Just think back to the triumphant trio of Pahor, Kresal and Golobič in 2008. Wherever they appeared, they were waving and clapping, hugging and more. Everything pointed to a winning troika. But the very next year, the framing, the backbiting, the accusations, the shaming, the blackmail, and more began. Until Kresal resigned over the infamous affair with the renting of the building on Dimičeva Street in Ljubljana for the National Bureau of Investigation (NPU). And it was Gregor Golobič who infamously brought down the Pahor government.
A similar thing was happening to Alenka Bratušek until Milan Kučan “visited” her, and we went to early elections. And soon after, a similar situation happened with Milo Cerar. The great righteous man and lawyer faced the same problems until he had to leave early, and we went to early elections – again. After the Slovenian Democratic Party (Slovenska demokratska stranka – SDS) victory in the 2018 elections, the government was not formed by Janez Janša, but by Marjan Šarec, who was also deemed the great saviour of Slovenia back then – on paper, of course. But in the middle of his mandate, in 2020 already, he gave up and ran away.
So, of course, I would argue that the ‘best’ manager of all time in Slovenia is now doing exactly the same thing. We are witnessing blackmail, extortion, threats and more. The only difference between the previous governments and the current one is that this is already happening a year and a half after the elections.
The current state of the coalition actually reminds me of a menagerie, with several beasts that are supposed to be physically separated from each other, but someone has removed the barriers, so they attack and bite each other, the stronger ones trying to eat the weaker ones, of course, for a snack, and so on. Only the most agile and small inhabitants of the menagerie are able to crawl into small holes, from where they rejoice and actually become the winners of the beastly struggle.
The Freedom Movement wants to devour the Social Democrats
You have probably already guessed that everything seems to indicate that Golob’s Freedom Movement party (Gibanje Svoboda) wants to finally destroy (devour) the Social Democrats (Socialni demokrati – SD), and that the Left party (Levica) has crawled into a hole from where they are watching the beastly struggle between the Freedom Movement and the SD party, while at the same time they are consistently implementing their own programme of ever-increasingly establishing socialism in Slovenia. It is also true that within this coalition, the Freedom movement is the strongest in terms of the number of MPs, followed by the Social Democrats, and the Left party is the smallest. But in reality, their political strength is reversed. The Left party is successfully implementing its programme for creating socialism in Slovenia, the Social Democrats are far behind in terms of the success of their programme, and the Freedom Movement are not even thinking about it, many of them already realising that they are “dancing” for the first and last term. Robert Golob is not interested in this at all, he is not even interested in running the government, he is only interested in private business, he is more or less only concerned with where he could or will get a million or two.
Millions are supposedly going into private pockets
To make sure that you do not say that I am talking out of my head and that nothing of the kind is happening, I want to point out a few things. The above claims can, of course, be verified. And in addition, there is a lot more going on than we think at this time. It is not just the open political clash between the Freedom Movement and the Social Democrats over the purchase of a building for the Ljubljana courts at Litijska Street 51 in Ljubljana, which the Minister of Justice, Dominika Švarc Pipan, overpaid by as much as 6 million euros. Millions are said to have gone into private pockets. This fact is just a framework for public accusations and blackmail. But in fact, this is an affair allegedly initiated by the Secretary-General of the Freedom Movement party, Vesna Vuković, on the basis of government data, who thus launched an open attack on the Social Democrats, where they bought into the whole thing and started playing her game.
Of course, it is not possible to defend Minister Dominika Švarc Pipan, but after she was disowned by the SD party, she was given political asylum by Robert Golob. Apparently, they agreed that he would investigate all irregularities in the affair, and only then would she leave. But come on, she is a signatory to the contract and therefore the main actor in the affair of the purchase of the building in question, and now she is going to be investigating what went wrong. Of course, she is not actually doing that, but she is, by all logic, destroying the evidence against herself. The police have not yet arrived at the Ministry of Justice headquarters. If she had a clear conscience, she would have collected all the written and other evidence and handed it over to the police in a single day. She is not doing that – instead, she is collecting evidence of irregularities, i.e. evidence against herself, in agreement with Robert Golob. I mean, you would really have to be a moron to collect evidence against yourself, which Dominika Švarc Pipan certainly is not.
This is about destroying the Social Democrats
But all of this is merely a show for the public. Behind the scenes, it is about destroying the SD party, led by Tanja Fajon, but they haven’t figured that out yet. I have never considered Fajon to be an intellectual gem. But now she is supposedly being torn down by Matjaž Nemec, a Member of the European Parliament called Nitka – Thread. In fact, in the time of Covid-19, in 2020, he had an insurmountable problem because he could not travel from municipality to municipality and could not buy the thread for his lawnmower. And though I never considered Tanja Fajon to be an intellectual superior to me, Matjaž Nemec is only a pale shadow of her, and therefore someone intellectually inferior. This, of course, guarantees the final sinking of the boat called the SD party.
“Where two are fighting, the third wins,” goes the popular saying. And this is what is happening within the coalition. The Left party is staying quiet, and after the call to MP Miha Kordiš to leave the Left, all has been silent. Indeed, they have reason to rejoice. While the Freedom Movement party and the Social Democrats are bickering and biting, the Left is speeding up its programme of establishing socialism in Slovenia.
Thus, Golob is going down the same path as Pahor, Bratušek, Cerar and Šarec. The only difference is that he only cares about millions of euros, which the aforementioned probably did not think about.
