Belarusian Border guards may assist illegal migrants

Polish Border Guard has published a video, which, they say, shows Belarusian border guards preparing a large group of migrants for crossing the Polish border illegally. Meanwhile, the German interior ministry has banned activists from using buses to taxi migrants from the Polish border to Germany.

“Belarusian services are preparing another group of migrants for crossing the border illegally,” the Polish border police wrote on their social media account. They also published a video about the incident.

The footage, published on Saturday, shows a large group of migrants, with some of them heading towards the barbed wire on the Polish side of the border, Polish news portal wPolityce points out.

The Polish border is under constant pressure, with 570 illegal border crossings and attempts recorded on Friday alone and more than 30,000 since the beginning of the year.

A more than 5-metre high fence, equipped with barbed wire and state-of-the-art electronic devices, will be completed by the middle of next year on the Polish-Belarusian border, Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski said.

The fence will run along a 180-kilometre section of the border and will be equipped with motion sensors and cameras.

Meanwhile, a group of German activists, members of the NGO Seebrucke, have requested a permission from the German interior ministry to use buses to taxi illegal migrants from the Polish-Belarusian border to Germany.

They wrote they were asking for the permission in the spirit of “European solidarity” to allow migrants to travel safely to Germany.

However, the interior ministry has rejected their request and warned the activists that what their plan was illegal.

“The interior ministry warns the activists against carrying out their intentions. Unauthorised transportation of persons and possible illegal entry into Germany could have legal and criminal consequences,” Steve Alter, spokesman of the interior ministry, said in response to a question from DPA.
