Drugs, violence and a lack of the rule of law have been spreading in Turin’s Barriera Milano district for months. A special demonstration of power was now delivered by African migrants.
On the night of February 6, Senegalese drug traffickers declared war on police in the occupied Barriera Milano neighborhood, where many of the New Year’s Eve rapists come from:
Within hours, six people were arrested for drug trafficking in the Barriera Milano neighborhood of Turin in the area of Corso Vercelli and Corso Palermo.
Five drug traffickers, four Senegalese and one Gabonese national, were checked after careful observation in the immediate vicinity of their homes. Not only did the latter carry several doses of crack cocaine already packed in ovals and ready for sale, but in some cases also had large amounts of drugs in their homes.
The police seized more than 1 kg of cocaine, which a 38-year-old pre-convicted Senegalese had hidden at home, as well as 30,000 euros, which are probably the proceeds of crimes, as the man does not work. During the various operations, a 21-year-old Senegalese, in order to evade control and arrest by the officers, first swallowed a few cans of cocaine and then injured two police officers in a fierce attempt to defend himself.
Africa Cup of Nations as a trigger for riots
On Sunday evening, dozens of Senegalese drug traffickers surrounded a police car in the Barriera di Milano district during the celebrations of Senegal’s victory in the African Nations Cup. The car was kicked and the officers were forced to flee. The scene was filmed with a mobile phone and posted on the Internet.
“For hours, the neighborhood was at the mercy of African anger. It’s war,” said a local resident.
