Britain: The Muslim Brotherhood Is Secretly Infiltrating Society And Politics

In his article, author David Abrahams warns of the danger that he believes the Muslim Brotherhood poses to British society. He believes that this is a sophisticated transnational political project that does not operate through violence, but rather through influence via democratic institutions.

The Brotherhood is said to present itself to the public as moderate and inclusive, while behind the scenes it spreads ideological rigidity and strives to transform society according to Islamist principles. Its representatives are said to have successfully infiltrated local councils, government committees, and academic circles, where they are often regarded as legitimate representatives of the Muslim community – even though, in the author’s opinion, they do not reflect its diversity, reports The Telegraph (the article is available here: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/08/09/the-west-must-end-its-silence-on-the-muslim-brotherhood/)

Critics of the Brotherhood are labelled traitors

In an effort to achieve greater social cohesion, the British authorities are said to have given influence to those who are least representative, thereby marginalising moderate Muslim voices. As a result, British Muslims are caught between discrimination from outside and ideological pressure from within the community, where critics of the Brotherhood are often labelled as traitors.

Abrahams warns that confusing Islam with Islamism is not only wrong but also harmful, as it reinforces stereotypes and undermines pluralism. He emphasises that Muslims should be treated as citizens with different views, not as representatives of political movements.

A threat to democratic values

He also refers to a 2015 British government report that warned of the Brotherhood’s double discourse and its potential threat to democratic values – yet no action has been taken in this regard. Outwardly, the Brotherhood is moderate, but inwardly, it is radical.

Moderate Muslim voices are silenced

In his opinion, true inclusion is only possible if radical ideological representatives are rejected and space is made for moderate Muslim voices, which are often silenced by the Brotherhood.
