The SDS Party At The MOS Fair In Celje: “Slovenia Has A Huge Number Of Craftsmen And Entrepreneurs Who Deserve Support”

“There is no more time left, the economy is bleeding!” was the clear message from the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) at this year’s 57th International Trade Fair in Celje (Mednarodni obrtni sejem – MOS). The fair began on Wednesday, the 17th of September, and will last until the 21st of September.

Among the participants is also the Slovenian Democratic Party, together with its youth wing, the Slovenian Democratic Youth (Slovenska demokratska mladina – SDM), which actively communicates its views on the economy and the future of Slovenia through social networks.

This year’s International Trade Fair focuses primarily on digitisation and support for small businesses, which is in line with the SDS party’s messages about the need for reforms to strengthen the economy. The SDS party emphasises that “Slovenia has a huge number of exceptional craftsmen and entrepreneurs who deserve the support of the state, not humiliation and punishment for their efforts.” They believe that “it is the state’s job to provide them with an environment in which they can grow and develop,” they wrote in one of their posts.

The Slovenian Democratic Youth is present at the fair with a stand in Hall C, where they invite visitors to join them and emphasise the need for young people to have opportunities instead of receiving social transfers. “Young people need opportunities, not social transfers!” was their clear message.

At the opening, business leaders highlighted the key challenges and opportunities that the Slovenian economy is currently facing. At the round table of the Economic Circle, Blaž Cvar, President of the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia (OZS), pointed out the excessive administrative and financial burdens that are hindering development, while Nina Ermenc Pangerl, President of the Management Board of the Celje Fair, emphasised the evolution of fairs, which today are “a space for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and opportunities, networking, and cooperation.” The Economic Circle listed guidelines for the future of entrepreneurship in the panel, with an emphasis on investments to revive growth, and the common message was: less burdens, more support for craftsmen and small businesses.

A special highlight of this year’s fair for the SDS party was the birthday of the party President, Janez Janša, who celebrated his 67th birthday on the 17th of September. The SDS party fair stand prepared a surprise for him on this occasion: a cake with the inscription “Happy Birthday, Janez Janša” and a gift in the form of 51 membership applications from new party members collected on the same day.

Janša expressed his gratitude for the gift and surprise on the X platform, while visitors congratulated him and sang a traditional birthday song, adding a personal touch to the business event.
