The Association for Values of Slovenian Independence has new leadership. At the members’ assembly in Stična that took place on the 4th of September, Lojze Peterle was elected the new president of the association, and he succeeded the current president Aleš Hojs. Peterle was also the Prime Minister of the first Slovenian government.
“I would like to congratulate Lojze Peterle on his election to the position of president of our Association for Values of Slovenian Independence. I wish you successful leadership. I would like to thank all the members, sympathizers and supporters for their work and the help they offered me in leading the association in the last couple of years,” the Minister of the Interior, Aleš Hojs, wrote on Twitter after Peterle was elected. Peterle thanked Hojs for his congratulations and his successful presidency. “The Association for Values of Slovenian Independence has a great mission. We can all grow from the values of independence.”
Franci Feltrin, a member of the first convocation of the Slovenian Assembly, and Mojca Škrinjar, a member of the SDS party, were elected vice-presidents of the patriotic veterans’ association, which unites citizens of the Republic of Slovenia and Slovenians abroad, who have a positive attitude towards their homeland and Slovenian independence.
Peterle was also congratulated on his election as president of the Association for Values of Slovenian Independence by NSi president and Minister of Defence Matej Tonin, who wrote: “Lojze Peterle, congratulations on your election to the position of president of the Association for Values of Slovenian Independence. The values of Slovenian independence need to be nurtured. We can grow from our common roots. Let them be strong!”
