Janez Janša, the President of the Slovenian Democratic Party (Slovenska demokratska stranka – SDS), has made his prediction come true. To cover the legal costs of the Patria political-judicial construct, he offered several personal items for sale via an electronic public auction.
- The electronic public auction allows anyone to buy the combat uniform of the Minister of Defence. This is the military uniform of the Territorial Defence of the Republic of Slovenia, worn by the then-Minister of Defence, Janez Janša, during the Slovenian War of Independence. The starting auction price is 2,500 euros.
- It is also possible to buy the annual officer’s blouse of the Minister of Defence Janez Janša (1992). The starting auction price is 1,000 euros.
- The Officer’s Jacket of the Minister of Defence Janez Janša (1992) is also available for purchase. The starting auction price is 1,500 euros.
- Several artworks are also available for purchase through the e-auction – namely, six, including the photograph Pensee a Marat (1988), by Jana Vizjak.
The auction items will be stored at the headquarters of the Slovenian Democratic Party, at Trstenjakova Street 8, Ljubljana. More information is available at: edražbe.si
Janez Janša has to pay around 30,000 euros in court costs. This is the amount ordered by the court in Kranj, after Janša demanded compensation from former prosecutor Branka Zobec Hrastar, judges Barbara Klanjšek, Milan Štrukl, Vesna Žalik and Branko Masleša, and the state. He brought an action against them to the court for wrongful conviction and related liability. The Court held only one hearing in the case of the named judges, which lasted less than three hours, and then acquitted the judges and the prosecutor without any evidence. It ordered Janez Janša to pay the court costs within 15 days. There is no possibility of an appeal against the decision. The court has not yet held a further hearing.
When the court costs were announced to the public, many people on social media offered to help Janša collect the money needed. They advised him to find a way to get help from experts. Janša then announced that he would sell his belongings in an organised way, through an e-auction.
In recent days, Janša’s book “The Wake-Up Call” (“Budnica”) has also been published. You can find it at the website vseknjige.si – it is available in Slovenian.
The book is already available for order, the price is 20 euros. The publishing house “New Horizons” (“ Nova obzorja“) has proposed that half of the price should go to the author to help cover the costs of the criminal trial. As is well known, the Patria construct is not the only one.
However, Janez Janša has announced that the difference between the amount of the costs of the perjury trial in his case and the money gathered will be used to help others who are also being wrongly tried, including Zvezdan Radonjić, the former judge who is now being tried to exhaustion at the court.
