About a year ago, we reported that Sejad Jušić, the brother of the Director-General of Police, Senad Jušić, had applied for the internal tender for attaché in Serbia, which is not prohibited (although it is certainly questionable from the point of view of objective impartiality, as many would suspect corruption), but it is certainly questionable that the rules on police attachés stipulate that the composition of the selection committee is to be proposed by the Director-General of Police, i.e. the brother of the applicant. Now, sources tell us that the other brother is also planning to venture into the attaché waters – the Director-General of Police Senad Jušić is allegedly intending to apply for the post of attaché in Zagreb.
So apparently, he is already preparing to step up to a new career, since his time at the senior position in the police is coming to an end, as the Administrative Court ruled that the decision of the Council of Officials that Senad Jušić meets the conditions for the post of Director-General of Police was illegal – he does not meet the condition of eight years of experience in managerial positions. Although he himself bizarrely claims that the Administrative Court has legitimised his office with its decision, the reality is that it is clear in high political circles that sooner or later, he will have to resign or be dismissed.
The members of the commission were chosen by the brother of the chosen one
The procedure for selecting the attaché is that the Minister of the Interior, in this case, Boštjan Poklukar, appoints an expert commission, which consists of two representatives of the General Directorate of the Police, appointed on the proposal of the Director-General of Police, and a representative of the Ministry. So, two members of the commission are appointed by the Director-General of the Police, Senad Jušić. If he himself becomes attaché, then the next Director-General will select the commission, which will then – presumably – select him for the post.
The tender, in which his twin brother Sejad was to take part, required only English language skills and the seventh level of education, but did not require international experience. In the end, the commission proposed the two best candidates out of eight. If our sources are correct, Senad would now like to become an attaché himself. Like his twin brother, he also has no relevant experience.
We have therefore asked the police whether Jušić intends to apply for the post of attaché in Zagreb. We will publish the answer when we receive it.
Titoist attachés?
Our sources have shared a lot of interesting information about the Jušić brothers with us in the past. “He and his brother are acquainted with the Prime Minister. The brother is likely to become the director of the Nova Gorica police station,” our source wrote some time ago. Namely, after the report of the former acting Director-General of Police Boštjan Lindav was leaked, it was speculated that one of the forms of political pressure on the police, exerted by Prime Minister Robert Golob, came after the request for the replacement of the director of the Nova Gorica Police Directorate, Evgen Govekar. The fact that it was Govekar was evident from a note in the report, which says that the Prime Minister demanded that “something should be done as soon as possible with the guy down there who is the director in my area.”
Sejad Jušić was reportedly forced to leave his post in the Criminal Investigation Department because he was “suspicious”. Among other things, because of his hanging out with criminals and leaking information to unauthorised persons. “Instead of being denounced, he went to the border police in Škofije,” the source tells us. After graduating from the Faculty of Security Sciences in 2007 (his thesis was on the use of physical force as a means of coercion), he became assistant commander in Koper, where Jušić was also reportedly constantly in conflict.
Sources also mention that the brother of the Director-General of the Police, when he was still the Chief of the Nova Gorica Police, was regularly meeting with the suspect Dejan Šurbek and visited Marina. This is the Marina affair, in which Sergej Racman, Dejan Šurbek, Jože Kojc and Vesna Ternovec were accused. The latter is the director of the company Cratos, under the umbrella of which organised prostitution took place in the Marina club, the media outlet Primorske novice reported a year ago. The Specialised State Prosecutor’s Office claims in the indictment that the spa and wellness services offered were just a cover for a more profitable activity – organised prostitution, the media also reported.
The brother of the Director-General of the Police came to public attention when photographs of him posing in front of the tomb of communist butcher Josip Broz – Tito appeared online.
The Director-General’s attitude towards communist idols is not known, but it can hardly be expected to be much different from that of his twin brother. So, will we only be sending Titoist attachés around the Balkans, bringing shame on our country and the nation?
