On Friday, a municipal warden of the Joint Municipal Administration of the Municipalities of Dolenjska and Bela Krajina was injured in the Roma settlement of Poganci in Novo mesto during the course of his duties, as a result of a stone-throwing attack. Several police officers and municipal wardens were present in the settlement for official procedures, and the stone-throwing attack occurred at the end of the proceedings.
The problems with the Roma of the Dolenjska region are getting worse by the day, even though not long ago, the authorities took steps to address the increasingly acute problem, which seriously disturbs peaceful coexistence with the rest of the population. Apparently, mere words will not be enough, as the Roma do not even respect the Slovenian security authorities.
In fact, a municipal warden was injured in a stone-throwing attack while carrying out the procedures of the Novo mesto-Bela krajina municipal wardens and police service.
The government is not listening
The Mayor of Novo mesto, Gregor Macedoni, has already spoken to the Director of the Novo mesto Police Directorate following the attack, and has also informed the leadership of the Ministry of the Interior about the attack and reiterated his call for systematic and effective action.
The government refuses to listen to the people
The Mayor of Novo mesto, Gregor Macedoni, has already spoken to the Director of the Novo mesto Police Administration following the attack, and has also informed the leadership of the Ministry of the Interior about the attack and reiterated his call for systematic and effective action in the Dolenjska and Bela krajina regions.
The Municipality of Novo mesto and the Joint Municipal Administration of the Municipalities of Dolenjska and Bela Krajina strongly condemn the act of violence, and the Mayor of Novo mesto reiterated his call for the state to take immediate and effective systemic action and solutions, as all other Mayors of South-Eastern Slovenia and Posavje also stressed at their recent meeting in Novo mesto. After the rejection of the proposed amendments to the four laws last October, the coalition parties promised that the government would come up with its own proposal for legislative changes by the end of 2023, but this has not happened. As the mayors pointed out, the problem, with its many negative effects, still persists and is worsening daily.
