The Council of RTV Slovenia confirmed both Simon Kardum and Andrej Trček as members of the RTV Management Board with 12 votes. As of Wednesday, three members of the Management Board have been appointed, while the fourth will be elected by the employees in an upcoming election.
At the 4th extraordinary session of the Council of RTV Slovenia, which was held on Wednesday, Simon Kardum and Andrej Trček, who were nominated as members of the Management Board by the Chairman of the Management Board, Zvezdan Martić, presented themselves. The Councillors approved the nominations with 12 votes.
Martić announced that he would fill the Management Board of the national media outlet Radio-Television Slovenia (RTVS) with experts in the fields of organisation, law and finance, as he believes that these areas were the “weakest” before. As we have already reported, neither of the two new members of the RTV Management Board is an expert in these fields, nor are they well-versed in the media space and in media systems as large as RTV.
It is also worth noting that Kardum is a bizarre character and the man of the Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković, who ran the Kino Šiška centre with a dormouse fur hat on his head. He wrote his CV and presented his previous work experience on a quarter of an A4 piece of paper.
Trček does not exactly fit the “legal expert” description either, as he has never worked in the judiciary and does not have a state exam in law. His CV states that he worked mainly within the legal office of RTV and was in charge of personal data protection.
RTV Slovenia will be managed and governed by a four-member board. The board is headed by the Chairman of the Board. The fourth member of the Management Board will be a Workers’ Director, elected by the employees of the national media outlet. The first round of elections will take place on the 25th of July 2023, and a possible second round on the 16th of August 2023.
The mandate of the new RTV Slovenia Management Board will start with the election of the fourth member of the Management Board.
