The Headquarters Of Golob’s Company Are Located In A Small Studio Apartment

Prime Minister Robert Golob has moved the headquarters of his company Star Solar from Nova Gorica to a small studio apartment in the centre of Ljubljana at 22 Trubarjeva Street, owned by Lidija Nagode Aleksić, from whom you can also rent the said studio apartment at this address on Booking.com. It was not clear where exactly Golob’s company is based at 22 Trubarjeva Street when I disclosed the move, because there is no sign of it on the building, and there are several owners in the building. Meanwhile, the company Star Solar does not respond to journalists’ questions.

However, it is not possible to register a company’s headquarters at a certain address if the owner does not give permission in writing. However, the documentation obtained by a reader of Spletni časopis (Online Journal) at the court proves that Golob’s company operates in premises owned by Lidija Nagode Aleksić, who has a registered office for an accounting service at 22 Trubarjeva Street and was previously registered as a landlord at that same address. The statement that Golob’s company, which sells electricity from solar power plants on buildings in Ruše, Maribor and Ptuj to the state-owned company Borzen on a subsidised basis, is allowed to do business with her reads as follows:

“Declaration by the owner of the building pursuant to the fourth paragraph of Article 4 of the Law on the Court Register (ZSReg) The owner of the building: Lidija Nagode Aleksić, born [redacted], residing at 22 Trubarjeva Street, Ljubljana I hereby declare that I authorise the establishment of a business at the address: 22 Trubarjeva Street, 1000 Ljubljana To the subject: STAR SOLAR d.o.o.., identification number: 6134815000 Ljubljana, 3rd of February 2025” The declaration is, of course, also signed by Nagode Aleksić.

According to the Land Registry, Lidija Nagode Aleksić has owned the apartment at 22 Trubarjeva Street, measuring 18.20 m2, since 2018. At that time, a mortgage of 79,000 euros from the SKB Bank was registered on the apartment. This is the only part of the building that she owns, she was registered to rent out rooms at this address, and there is still an accountancy service registered there. Now she has also allowed our Prime Minister’s company to have its headquarters there. This is also listed on the Erar web application for the portrayal of public money spending in the Republic of Slovenia.

The area in question is known to the public because the murder of the well-known actor Gašper Tič took place in a neighbouring building. Another interesting fact is that there is also a studio apartment for rent at Trubarjeva Street, which measures 20 square metres, slightly larger than the apartment where our Prime Minister’s private company has its offices, which can be rented on booking.com. For two nights, the rental will cost you 262 euros, according to the publicly available information. The Apartment Ema, which is what it is called, has very good reviews. The fact that the same person who allowed our Prime Minister’s company to be based in her apartment is also very likely in charge of the letting is shown by a comment posted on Booking, which reads: “Exceptional! Lidia is an amazing host, very responsive to any and all questions! Her apartment is conveniently located and is well stocked with anything you could possibly need!”

The comment dates back to September last year, when Star Solar was not yet a tenant at the apartment. Meanwhile, the government of Robert Golob is trying to restrict renting through Booking and similar modern methods by changing the law to make more housing available to solve people’s housing problems.

It is not quite clear how the fact that the Prime Minister’s company is based in housing that is being rented out to tourists contributes to reducing the housing problem in our country.

There is also a lot of speculation in public about where in Croatia our Prime Minister is building a holiday house for himself, which investigative journalist Bojan Požar also wrote about, following rumours from journalists in Croatia: the Prime Minister is said to have bought a plot of land in Savudrija, near Crveni vrh. He is said to have bought the land from the town (municipality) of Umag. Records in Croatia do not confirm that Golob has bought anything there recently. However, a 737 square metre plot of land at Crveni vrh was recently bought by the company Dua invest, for 206,268 euros after a public tender last year. This company is owned by the company Markana, d.o.o. (from Ankaran) and VK Holding, d.o.o. (Ljubljana, Damjan Belič is a partner and owner in the company). Belič used to be the head of the Supervisory Board of the Slovenian Sovereign Holding (SDH). After his resignation, Lidija Glavina also had to say goodbye to her post. She was later recruited by Golob. In the Gen-I energy company, which he used to head.

At the time, the media reported that Glavina had lost the confidence of the then-Minister of the Economy, Zdravko Počivalšek, especially with regard to the implementation of the tourism strategy, under which the state was seeking to take control of three important hotel companies – Sava Turizem, Istrabenz Turizem and Hoteli Bernardin – and to prevent the now-deceased Serbian businessman Miodrag Kostić from doing so. When he took over the bank Gorenjska banka, Kostić also had money invested in the Gen-I energy company. Gorenjska banka was the last officially non-state owner to have parked shares in Gen-I.

The plot of land in question is on the edge of a new golf course planned by the city of Umag. We can only speculate about whether Golob might be behind the purchase, or whether he is buying something completely different – or even nothing at all.
