The Hot family has found itself in the media again. This time, it was because of a serious fight, which allegedly involved several close family members of the Vice Presidents of the Social Democrats party (Socialni demokrati – SD). The network of the influential family from the Coast reaches to the very top of the SD party and, consequently, to the top of Slovenian politics as well.
Our editorial office has received a photograph of one of the party’s meetings, which shows lawyer Marko Butinar, whose name has already appeared in the public in the past, as well as MP Meira Hot, and two members of the Hot family, positioned to the left and right of Butinar.
Marko Butinar, seen in the middle of the photo, is not completely unknown to the general public. Namely, last year, he was being mentioned as a potential candidate for the position of the Minister of Justice, but was apparently beaten by Andreja Katič, who replaced the ousted Dominika Švarc Pipan after the dilapidated building on Litijska Street affair.
Marko Butinar (who, as already mentioned, is a lawyer, as can be seen at the following link: https://odvetnik-butinar.si/o-nas/marko-butinar-odvetnik/) even ran as a candidate for the Presidency of the Social Democrats at the last congress and, according to our information, he is also the husband of the recently-elected state prosecutor Urška Lončar Butinar.
She was sworn in in October 2022 at the Ministry of Justice, when it was still headed by Švarc Pipan. She is currently employed at the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Koper.
And we finally get to the other people in the picture who are the subject of our interest, there is the SD party Vice-President, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Meira Hot, and (according to our information) two of her family members.
Let us remind you of what happened last year, on the 28th of December, when, during the holidays, the Hot family was involved in a violent incident in Tartini Square in Piran. According to media reports, the brothers of the MP Meira Hot, Marko and Tito Hot, her uncle Vejsil and her father Mehmed, were involved in a serious fight, which allegedly took place in two separate but interconnected episodes. The media outlet Dnevnik (Daily News) reported that during the first episode of the fight, the MP’s father and the firefighter who was assaulted clashed first. The violence then moved to the front of a nearby café, where Marko, Tito and Vejsil Hot allegedly smashed a bottle on the head of the 51-year-old firefighter who was attacked and then punched him until he lost consciousness. Other persons joined in on the fight and also beat the victim. The members of the Hot family reportedly fled when police sirens sounded. Marko Hot had previously been sentenced to a suspended prison sentence for violence.
