During The Prime Minister’s Absence, The Government Will Be Led By Far-Leftist Luka Mesec

The Prime Minister’s Office has announced that in the coming days, Prime Minister Robert Golob will have to undergo hernia surgery. Due to the surgery, he will be absent for a few days. He will be replaced by the former leader of the Left Party (Levica) – Luka Mesec.

“The Prime Minister, Dr Robert Golob, will undergo an emergency hernia operation on Friday, the 17th of November 2023, at the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana. During his sick leave, which is expected to last a few days, he will be replaced by Deputy Prime Minister Luka Mesec,” the Prime Minister’s Office has announced.

The office was very brief in its statement and did not provide any other information. However, this is not the first medical intervention that the Prime Minister has needed during his term in office. Namely, during summer – in July, while on holiday, he cut the heel of his right foot and later, in unexplained circumstances, suffered an injury to the big toe of his left foot at home. He then appeared in public with crutches.

However, the current Prime Minister is not the only one who has needed medical attention during his term in office. According to the media outlet Spletni časopis (Online Journal), some of the former higher political representatives of our country even opted for medical treatment abroad. For example, the last communist leader, Milan Kučan, was operated on in Switzerland, while former President of the Republic, Danilo Türk, was operated on in Austria.
