In the largest public opinion poll, called Consultation with the Voters, which was conducted by the SDS party, as many as 61 percent of the respondents said that the reporting of RTV Slovenia, POP TV and Kanal A contributed to the spread of the epidemic, and only ten percent of the respondents believe that the media coverage helped contain the epidemic.
The government led by Janez Janša has spent most of its time in office fighting the epidemic and adopting the necessary measures to control and slow down the spread of the virus. However, the media are contributing to non-compliance with the measures adopted by the government with their one-sided reporting. In the public opinion poll called Consultation with the Voters, the SDS party asked the respondents to what extent the media contributed to the spread or containment of the epidemic.
Only ten percent of the respondents believe that the mainstream media helped contain the epidemic
The answers came as no surprise, and the people were able to express their own opinion on the media reporting after one year of the pandemic. The vast majority, 61 percent of the respondents, answered that the reporting of RTV Slovenia, POP TV and Kanal A contributed to the spread of the epidemic. The second most common answer (29 percent) was that their reporting contributed to the spread but also the containment of the epidemic, and only ten percent of the respondents believe that the media contributed to the containment of the epidemic.
The public opinion poll was conducted in March. 17,998 respondents participated in the poll, which is the largest sample of any poll from the last few months.
