“The rapporteur for the organisation Reporters Without Borders RSF is Blaž Zgaga. This is also clear from the report itself and should be taken into account when assessing its credibility. In the report, he is sullying the government’s reputation and promoting the Necenzurirano (Uncensored) web portal and others, while journalists like Jože Možina, Igor Pirkovič, Bojan Požar and Jože Biščak are, of course, not mentioned,” MEP Romana Tomc from the Slovenian Democratic Party responded to the report on media freedom in Slovenia. Blaž Zgaga is a socio-political worker who made a complete fool of himself when he ran for the position of an MP on the list of the Social Democrats (Socialni demokrati – SD).
During the two-year term of the Janez Janša government, media psychosis about the phantom dictatorship was created at home and abroad. Among those who helped co-create it was also the “independent journalist” Blaž Zgaga, who apparently received the opportunity to run on the list of the Social Democrats in the elections, as some sort of award, similar to how “Milan’s presstitute” from the public RTV Slovenia, Mojca Pašek Šetinc, got the opportunity to run as well (on the list of the Freedom Movement – Gibanje Svoboda, but was not elected to parliament). And this very same Zgaga is now moralising about how much Slovenia has fallen when it comes to the Press Freedom Index.
He also was not able to give up the lies and distortions of reality and the infamous announcement that “the new government will have a lot of work to do.” And when everything will apparently return to the old ways in our country, in accordance with a single ideological and political line, then we will once again listen to such foreign organisations (thanks to Zgaga and his buddies) talking about how Slovenia is making great progress in the field of media pluralism. Fortunately, even the speculator George Soros has no influence on Twitter and its true plurality, as it recently turned out, which is a great pain for the members of the old regime’s journalistic-political elite.
Let us remind you that the financial speculator tried to block Elon Musk from purchasing the social network Twitter. And the person who Zgaga is now calling “a two-time prisoner, a charged person and a war profiteer,” our Prime Minister, is well-accepted on Twitter, as is well-known. He also has exceptional international connections with the biggest media giants. Thus, there is still hope that the oligarch’s government will have a demanding and critical opposition that will consistently point out all the irregularities and illegalities that the ruling coalition might try to engage in. Any demagogic attempts to silence the critical voice will be met with a sharp response.
On Media Freedom Day, we should point out media abuses: there are way too many activists among journalists
And last but not least, it is worth remembering that shocking stories from abroad about various business deals in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as those related to various Kosovo diplomats, and others, have still not been cleared up… MEP Romana Tomc also responded to the lies of Zgaga and his friends, which have apparently been well-received abroad and, most of all, resulted in 54th place (formerly 18th) for Slovenia in the index. Namely, Tomc said: “On the occasion of Media Freedom Day, media abuse should also be highlighted. There are too many political activists among journalists and too many political servants in the media. Freedom of the media is aimed at independent media, independent editors and journalists who work in accordance with the code of conduct for journalism.”
