“God exists,” radical leftist Janez Stariha commented on the murder of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk in the USA.
Charlie Kirk, an influential figure in American conservative circles, was shot on Wednesday during an event at the Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The incident occurred during his speech on the “American Comeback Tour,” organised by the local chapter of his organisation – Turning Point USA (TPUSA).
He did not survive the attack
Kirk did not survive the shooting. On Wednesday, according to media reports, the US President, Donald Trump, described his supporter Kirk as a “martyr for the truth.” He also attacked the radical left. He suggested that its rhetoric had contributed to the conservative activist’s death. Trump: “For years, the radical left has been comparing wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the worst mass murderers and criminals.”
A stranger dressed in black shot Kirk from the roof of one of the buildings on the Utah Valley University campus from a distance of about 200 meters. The 31-year-old conservative was hosting an event attended by three thousand people.
A close ally of Trump
He was known as one of the most influential local political activists and a close ally of Trump, who strongly defended the right to bear arms. Shortly after the murder, the FBI announced that the perpetrator had been arrested, but the person was released after questioning. Another suspect was arrested but also released.
It should be noted that Trump himself survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania last summer. Kirk is known to have had a great influence on American youth. Condemnations are coming from both the left and the right.
The radical left supports the murder
Among others, former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton have also condemned the murder. However, the radical left, both American and Slovenian, is celebrating the murder. Republican Ana Paulina Luna from Florida has also highlighted the responsibility of the left. We have collected some comments from leftists who approve of the murder.
“They killed an idiot.”
Here are some of the controversial statements from Slovenian leftists we found on X:
Žiga Turk pointed out that Kirk was not stopped with words but with a bullet – and at a university, nonetheless, to which an X user replied: “Professional Mossad assassination, you could say.”
Rok Ravnikar wrote: “Assassination is the result of the belief that it is legitimate to physically eliminate a political or ideological opponent. For a democratic society, such an act is incompatible and reprehensible. The same applies to any relativisation that such an act can be justified in a democratic society on the basis of the content of one’s views. Above all, it points to the danger and unacceptability of totalitarian labelling, demonisation and dehumanisation of anyone with whom one disagrees.”
To this, another user wrote: “This was not an assassination, because Kirk was not a statesman. This was simply a reckoning with a populist. The quasi-rightists rushed to condemn the leftists in advance, without trial. Nevertheless, I maintain that his own people eliminated him because he was becoming too dangerous for them. The same thing happened with JFK and his brother…”
Other users wrote things like: “He hardly let anyone else get a word in… he was the biggest American jerk…”; “He became a realisation of his stupid theories.”; “A real fascist!”; “Have you ever thought about that old saying: You reap what you sow?!”; “Correction, they killed an idiot.”
