According to the organisers, more than a thousand people took part in this year’s first March for Life, which took place over the weekend in Koper.
The March for Life took place in Koper on Sunday, under the motto: “Human from conception!” In her keynote speech, the leader of the Marches for Life in Slovenia, Urška Soares Cankar, pointed out that such marches promote the joy of life and save lives. She made a special appeal to help mothers and fathers in need, in order for them to be able to make the right choices for the birth of their children.
The programme featured a testimony by a midwife, Nataša, who told the story of a woman who did not want her own child. After her kind and compassionate intervention, she accepted the child and recently excitedly told the midwife who rescued her daughter that they were expecting a grandchild.
Another testimony came from Janja, who told the crowd how, in a difficult situation as a student, she decided to keep her child, despite being advised by many to have an abortion. She has never regretted this decision.
The new Bishop of Koper, Peter Štumpf, also spoke at the March for Life, as did the Member of the European Parliament, Branko Grims. The lively March for Life took place along the seafront promenade.
