Grims From The USA: I Just Hope That This Wave Will Splash Into Europe Soon!

“Trump’s inauguration was exceptional. There was an emotional charge of patriotism that was so strong that it was really nice to feel. And on the other hand, a commitment to freedom, which means complete freedom of speech, freedom of human rights. I just hope that this wave will splash into Europe as soon as possible, and that we will finally put the right people in the right places, both at the European Union level and at the Slovenian level, and hopefully, these people will be the right partners for this historic change, which is the most positive civilisational shift of the 3rd millennium for us,” MEP Branko Grims, who attended the inauguration of President Donald Trump, told us from the USA.

On the 20th of January 2025, the new President of the USA, Donald Trump, was sworn in. The event took place in a record-breaking cold in Washington. Immediately after the inauguration, Trump signed a number of orders that will have a major impact on the situation in the USA and around the world this year already. Among other things, we have learned that he intends to put the country back on the road to success and restore confidence in government.

He also announced a crackdown on illegal migration and criminal gangs, as well as stricter border protection. He promised to restore wealth, democracy, freedom and the rule of law to the people. He plans to tackle inflation, the energy crisis, restore energy extraction and save the domestic car industry. He also announced the introduction of tariffs.

He also announced the executive order on the recognition of only two sexes, the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, and the strengthening of the US military. He also promised to bring the Panama Canal back under the auspices of the USA, and announced the plan to plant an American flag on Mars. The new President also signed an executive order pardoning the defendants in the case of the riots of the 6th of January, and suspended the ban on TikTok. We called MEP Branko Grims in the USA, who attended the celebrations, to comment on the event.

Commentary by MEP Branko Grims:

“My impressions after the inauguration are excellent. The election of Donald Trump as President of the United States is the most positive civilisational shift in the third millennium. These are truly historic gestures which prove that history was made on Monday in Washington. I do not understand how it is possible that some people travelled to Davos instead of to the inauguration of Donald Trump in the United States.

The world will be a different, better place from the 20th of January onward, and this gives great hope for Europe, too. However, we must be aware that, for the left, Donald Trump will now be the cause and the culprit on duty for all the EU’s problems. This is, of course, not true, it is actually quite the opposite. What he is doing is very positive. The problem with the European Union, however, is that it does not have the appropriate leadership, the executive branch of government, to be a partner in all these historic changes.

The development potential will be unlocked

The European Commission with Ursula von der Leyen (who, like the Slovenian Commissioner Marta Kos, went to Davos instead of the inauguration) is certainly something that is now a disaster for Europe. On the other hand, there is the Slovenian government with Robert Golob at the helm – it is clear that there will be no positive partnership with the USA. But the shifts here will be historic and will be extremely powerful in shaping the next era.

It is important to realise that Trump will not only allow full freedom of public expression, but also unlock development potential. This means that Europe will fall further behind, dealing with the problems that European bureaucracy is causing Europe, instead of dealing with development issues and things that are important for people’s well-being. Trump’s inauguration was exceptional. There was an emotional charge of patriotism that was so strong that it was really nice to feel.

This is the most positive civilisational shift of the third millennium

And on the other hand, a commitment to freedom, which means complete freedom of speech, freedom of human rights – meaning, the freedom that should apply always and everywhere. I just hope that this wave will splash into Europe as soon as possible, and that we will finally put the right people in the right places, both at the European Union level and at the Slovenian level, and hopefully, these people will be the right partners for this historic change, which is the most positive civilisational shift of the 3rd millennium for us.”
