Four years ago, the leader of the Slovenian opposition and President of the Slovenian Democratic Party (Slovenska demokratska stranka – SDS), Janez Janša, expressed his support for Donald Trump in the US presidential election, writing on the social network X: “We respect Joe Biden’s difficult, tragic personal life and some of his political achievements years ago. But today, if elected, he would be one of the weakest presidents in history. When the free world desperately needs a strong US like never before. Go, win, Donald Trump!”
At the time, Janša was criticised by many of his political opponents for these words and for his support for Trump, but his predictions proved to be true, as Janša has pointed out again these days on the social network X.
Four years of major failures
Janša referred back to his old tweet, noting that many EU and US politicians attacked him back then for writing it, but added that Biden, unfortunately, won that year, and four years of a weak US presidency under Biden brought defeat in Afghanistan, Russian aggression in Ukraine, the Hamas massacre in Israel and war in the Middle East. “The West has never been in such a defensive mode and our planet less secure as it was during the last four years,” Janša wrote, stressing that the resurrection and victory of Donald Trump in 2024 is bringing back hope for a more peaceful world, a stronger NATO and the beginning of the fight back against the so-called “wokeism” as the current form of 21st century cultural Marxism, which is destroying free speech that is the very fibre of democracy and seeks to establish a totalitarian rule of the non-elected.
