In the past, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, has already pardoned several foreign migrant smugglers. This time, she has once again released a foreigner from prison. We cannot help but wonder what example she is setting for the rest of the smugglers?
The President of the Republic, Nataša Pirc Musar, pardoned another foreigner. In a press release we can read: “Sashko Sashkov‘s prison sentence under the judgment of the District Court in Koper, Case No I K 81985/2022 of the 11th of May 2023, is reduced by 4 months by way of pardon.”
What message is Pirc Musar sending to other smugglers?
In the past, the President has already caused quite a stir in the public with her pardons for foreigners. According to media reports, these were foreigners who trafficked human beings. Last year, the Slovenian Democratic Party (Slovenska demokratska stranka – SDS) parliamentary group subsequently demanded an extraordinary session of the National Assembly to be held for a discussion on this topic. We cannot help but wonder – what message is the President sending to foreign smugglers with her choices?
