“The escalation of the conflict between Palestine and Israel will not bring a solution to the conflict between the two countries, which has been going on since 1967… World leaders must react as soon as possible and put their name forward for a ceasefire and the start of new peace negotiations. The only way to start this path is through the recognition of Palestine,” wrote the Left party (Levica) MP Matej Tašner Vatovec in response to the most recent brutal attack on Israel. The statement is very similar to that of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who said: “We call for an immediate ceasefire and a peace plan based on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
Alongside this message, which justifies the brutal torturing, murders, rapes and kidnappings of civilians, Matej Tašner Vatovec also added a Palestinian flag next to his name on the social network X.
In the government of Robert Golob, we not only have supporters of the terrorist state of Russia, but also supporters of the terrorist group Hamas, which is literally carrying out a new holocaust against Israelis.
Vatovec condemned Israel for practicing apartheid. “In the Left party, we have consistently pointed out the extent of the Israeli occupation, the apartheid of the Palestinians in their homeland and other violations of the Geneva Conventions and UN resolutions. We have always taken the position that every occupation must be condemned, and every crime must be prevented. Even today, when Palestinian fighters are attacking Israel, we condemn the use of weapons against the civilian population. At the same time, we warn that any war will not bring a solution, but will only deepen the conflict, resulting in more deaths and devastation for both sides,” he wrote.
“World leaders must react as soon as possible and put their name forward for a ceasefire and the start of new peace negotiations. The only way to start this path is through the recognition of Palestine – a debt that Slovenia also owes it, especially in light of our history,” Vatovec believes, who shares the opinion of the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov.
On the other hand, several users of the social network X condemned the terrorist actions of the organisation Hamas. Nejc Brence, Vice-President of the Slovenian Democratic Youth (Slovenska demokratska mladina – SDM), the youth wing of the Slovenian Democratic Party (Slovenska demokratska stranka – SDS), posted the following message on X: “By the standards of the Slovenian left, the peaceful #Hamas organisation is spreading its peacefulness across Israel once again today. Despite the terrorist actions, the support of the left clearly remains. Just like it always has, even before today. Because two years ago, supporters of the rocket attacks even joined the Friday protesters…” And another user pointed out the connection between Russia and the attacks, writing: “Still think Russia had nothing to do with Hamas terrorist attacks and murder of Israelis today? Lavrov calls for East Jerusalem to be the capital of Palestine. There is no negotiation with terrorists.”
