A Ukrainian Aid Convoy Has Arrived In Slovenia

One of the countries helping Slovenia cope with the consequences of the recent floods is also Ukraine. An aid convoy with heavy machinery and representatives of the Ukrainian Civil Protection arrived in Slovenia on Friday. The assistance was previously confirmed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Ukraine is providing humanitarian aid to Slovenia to help it deal with the consequences of the recent severe floods. Yesterday, I signed the relevant order. We are helping our friends even when we are at war at home. Solidarity works both ways,” Zelenskyy wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday.

According to the government’s website, Ukraine’s assistance to Slovenia includes five excavators and 14 other vehicles with crews (51 members of the team in total). The machinery will be used in the Upper Savinja Valley. Kyiv had previously also deployed a helicopter to Slovenia, according to the reports of the Slovenian Press Agency.

On Sunday, Zelenskyy had already expressed his condolences to Slovenia due to the floods.

“The Ukrainian side will, in line with its capabilities, support its friends and that find themselves in trouble, just as Slovenia is supporting the Ukrainian nation and helping us divert Russian aggression,” Oleg Nikolenko, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, wrote on social media when announcing the aid.
