Economic Growth In Slovenia Is Plummeting

The Bank of Slovenia has lowered its forecast for Slovenia’s economic growth. While in June, it had forecast growth of 5.8 percent this year and 2.4 percent next year, this year’s growth will actually reach 5 percent, falling to 0.8 percent next year. Inflation will remain high and is expected to start moderating in the second half of next year.

Inflation will be 9.3 percent this year. It is expected to be 6.8 percent next year, 4.2 percent in 2024, and 2.3 percent in 2025. This is particularly striking given that, so far, the government has taken virtually no major measures to moderate inflation. Nor are there any major measures that could help businesses weather the crisis being introduced.

The GDP forecasts of other institutions are similar to those of the Bank of Slovenia.
