Slovenian athletes are the best ambassadors of Slovenia. Therefore, the current government has decided to significantly increase the bonuses for the winners of Olympic medals (including disabled athletes and chess players).
In addition to significant investments in sports and sports infrastructure, as well as the introduction of tax relief for sports, the current Slovenian government has also increased the bonuses for Slovenian medal winners at the Olympic Games. So far, Slovenian athletes have received very small amounts of money for their efforts and successes in sports competitions.
The awards even doubled
Let’s take a look at the increase in bonuses for the Slovenian Olympians. The prize for the recipients of the bronze medal increased from 15,560 to 38,000 euros. The prize for the recipients of the silver medals rose from 23,340 to 45,000 euros. These two bonuses have therefore increased by more than 100 percent. And the winners of gold medals will receive a prize of 55,000 euros (previously, the prize amounted to 31,120 euros).
But that is not all. The prize for the teams increased from 151,710 to 300,000 euros. The same prizes will also go to chess players and Paralympians. Let’s hope that the new awards will bring additional encouragement to all Slovenian athletes who are currently competing at the Winter Olympics in Beijing.
