On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Anže Logar gave his last speech in the role of the High Representative of the Council of Europe for Cooperation with the European Parliament, as the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union is coming to an end. On this occasion, Logar also said a few words about Slovenia’s Presidency at the end of his speech. He pointed out that in the last six months, the Slovenian Presidency had been present at 35 plenary debates, spent about 110 hours in trialogues, and had successfully completed 18 dossiers to date – two were still on the agenda for Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
On Wednesday, Anže Logar gave his last speech in the role of the High Representative of the Council of Europe for Cooperation with the European Parliament, as part of Slovenia’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. “It was not always easy, but the impressions at the end are positive. A sincere thank you to my team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he wrote on the occasion.
Before the end of Wednesday’s session, Logar also briefly talked about the concluding act of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU. “Today is my last time as the High Representative of the EU Council for cooperation with the European Parliament, and I can say that it was a great pleasure for me to present the 27 here, in front of you, in the House of European Democracy,” he said.
In the last six months, the Slovenian Presidency has been present at 35 debates. Logar pointed out that they debated for a total of about 70 hours on a wide variety of topics. “At the same time, the Slovenian Presidency also actively sought dialogue at the professional level in the decision process, where we conducted many trialogues,” he pointed out. As a point of interest, he also added that the shortest trialogue lasted five minutes, in which they managed to come to an agreement, and the longest lasted nine hours.
“Dear Members of Parliament, the European Parliament and the Slovenian Presidency reached an agreement in negotiations and successfully concluded 18 dossiers within the trialogue,” he also said. Two more were on the agenda for Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. “Our joint cooperation and dialogue can result in 20 completed trialogues. And we can confidently say that we have taken an important step forward for the benefit of the citizens of the European Union.”
European Affairs Ministers endorse Council conclusions on the enlargement of the EU
Yesterday, within the framework of the General Affairs Council, in a marathon session, the European affairs Ministers also managed to coordinate the conclusion of the Council of the European Union on the enlargement of the European Union, including for the Western Balkans. “This is yet another important success of the Slovenian Presidency, for which I want to thank the team, especially the State Secretary for European Affairs,” Logar concluded.
