Petra Bezjak Cirman is the influential president of the Workers’ Council of the national media outlet RTV, and her husband, Primož Cirman, is a journalist who works for the left-wing web portal Necenzurirano (Uncensored). With Bezjak Cirman’s help, the national television spreads false content created by her husband, and at the same time, Bezjak Cirman is also leading the rebellion of the news programme employees against the proposal of the RTV Slovenia Programme-Production Plan.
The proposal of the RTV Slovenia Programme-Production Plan for the year 202 will be presented before the Programme Council on Monday. As we have previously reported, the TV Slovenia news programme is in a serious crisis. Most shows’ viewership count has been declining for years, with the TV shows Dnevnik and Odmevi having lost more than 250 thousand or half of their once loyal viewers since 2003. That is why the leadership has decided to implement changes to the programme, and they followed the example of other successful public television stations from Europe, such as BBC, ZDF, and ORF when preparing the proposal for the Programme-Production Plan for next year.
As is well known, the staff of the TVS news programme called on the Programme Council to reject the proposal. When we see the names that make up the staff, it quickly becomes clear why they started the uprising. These are long-time employees of the national television station, with shows in the most-watched time slots, who ignored the despite the trends and the ability to adapt to new programming schemes, and thus lost as much as half of their viewership. Among them are Igor E. Bergant, Manica Janežič Ambrožič, Dejan Ladika, Petra Bezjak Cirman …
The Uncensored RTV
The latter is especially interesting because she is not only the president of the RTV Workers’ Council but also the wife of the infamous journalist Primož Cirman, who works for media tycoon Odlazek’s web portal Necenzurirano – Uncensored. This would not be a problem in itself if the web portal’s questionable content did not also appear on television, the web portal and radio stations of the national media outlet, which is paid for by all Slovenian households. Namely, Uncensored is the web portal of the media tycoon Martin Odlazek, who is working strongly against the right, with a sole focus – to overthrow the democratic government with serial attacks. in order to bring the transitional left back to power. Namely, we have previously spotted Cirman and Vesna Vuković in public with the influential representative of the Social Democrats, Uroš Jauševec, which is further proof that these are guided and coordinated attacks, happening under the pretext of investigative journalism. Most recently, they went after the SDS MP Karmen Kozmus Ferjan and her diploma – with forged records. Similar things have already happened before, and all of this says a lot about the professionalism and, above all, the morale of Odlazek’s team.
All this content, which is then being summarised and presented on the public RTV, which is supposed to represent the top of Slovenian journalism, cast an extremely bad light on it. We have proven many times before that out of more than two thousand employees working at RTV, the vast majority share similar views as the journalists of the Uncensored web portal. This is undoubtedly also confirmed by their kinship ties. Petra Bezjak Cirman also shows her support publicly on social networks, where she openly shares her partner’s content, and she did something even more embarrassing at the time of the anti-government protests when bullies attacked the police officers and the National Assembly, and when the police defended the safety and property of all citizens, which is one of its main tasks, Bezjak Cirman dared to comment on it by saying that we are a “police state,” and then moralised about police repression. When a person like this leads a revolt against the changes at RTV, all the alarms should go off because not only is her husband behind her but so is the entire left-wing scene – from the Social Democrats to the tycoons.
