Szijjártó criticizes the EU Commission’s absurd position
“Building border fortifications is the only efficient way to stop the influx of illegal immigrants.”
That was the summary of Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, who received his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkevics on Monday. While the situation on Poland’s border with Belarus worsened dramatically on Monday, the EU Commission is sticking to its “absurd” position not to finance border fortifications. Today the EU is exposed to unprecedented migratory pressure from three directions – south, south-east and east.
Now Latvians, Lithuanians and Poles are “physically confronted” with what has been the order of the day for Hungary since 2015. “Without a border fence, there aren’t that many police officers and soldiers to protect a green border several hundred kilometers long,” said Szijjártó. The EU Commission is slowly financing everything that promotes migration “as if these people were living on another planet”. He called on Brussels to give up efforts to mix the European population.
