Prime Minister Janez Janša outlined the priorities of Slovenia’s EU presidency to the European Committee of the Regions, highlighting post-Covid recovery, green transition and the EU’s strategic autonomy, while also touching on subsidiarity.
He argued for a greater degree of inclusion of local and regional communities and called for respecting subsidiarity and the fact that EU countries are representative democracies as a way to bring the EU closer to citizens.
