“In the Slovenian Association of Patriotic Journalists, we give full support to our Hungarian colleagues on public television and other conservative colleagues who are the target of harsh attacks and threats from the Hungarian left opposition,” they wrote in the Slovenian Association of Patriotic Journalists.
We publish the letter in full:
“Slovenian Association of Patriotic Journalists supports Hungarian journalists and editors on public television and other conservative colleagues
In the Slovenian Association of Patriotic Journalists, we are concerned about the threats and statements of Hungarian (left-wing) opposition politicians. We strongly condemn the record of Ms Ágnes Vadai, Vice President of the Democratic Coalition (S&D Group), who threatened public television journalists with a showdown modeled on the Rwandan genocide, as well as the statement by Mr András Fekete-Győr, chairman of Momentum (Renew Europe), that he would ban conservative journalists from practicing the profession after a possible takeover (HERE).
In the Slovenian Association of Patriotic Journalists, we believe that such threats have no place in democratic and free societies based on different opinions and worldviews.
We therefore call on the European Parliament (which has recently addressed media freedom in Hungary, Poland and Slovenia) and the European Commission to strongly condemn the statements made by Ms Ágnes Vadai and Mr András Fekete-Győr. Only with such a condemnation will the leadership in Brussels prove that it has no double standards. We also call on the European political groups S&D and Renew Europe to remind their members that their threats are completely inappropriate.
Unfortunately, in the Slovenian Association of Patriotic Journalists, we observe that attacks on conservatively oriented editors and journalists are intensifying throughout Europe. Just because we stand for values such as the nation, the nuclear family, the Christian faith and the preservation of national identity and culture, and because we oppose »rainbow« experiments, illegal migration and the culture of death.
In the Slovenian Association of Patriotic Journalists, we give full support to our Hungarian colleagues on public television and other conservative colleagues who are the target of harsh attacks and threats from the Hungarian left opposition.
Jože Biščak, President of the Slovenian Association of Patriotic Journalists and editor of the conservative weekly Demokracija”
