Commission for the Prevention of Corruption Has Completed the Proceedings Against Minister Hojs, but Tepina Cannot Come to Terms with the Epilogue

Commission for the Prevention of Corruption has completed the proceedings regarding the sale of a piece of land in the area of Kolombana in the Koper municipality, the final owner of which, among others, also became Minister of the Interior Aleš Hojs. The Commission apparently found that there were no violations, so they closed the case.

Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (Komisija za preprečevanje korupcije – referred to as KPK) has completed the proceedings regarding the purchase of a plot of land in the area of Kolombana in the Koper municipality, the final owner of which, among others, also became Minister of the Interior Aleš Hojs. The Commission closed the case because it did not find any violations.

KPK was looking into the matter because of a report received last year, due to suspicion of irregularities in the sale of the plot, which was previously owned by the Municipality of Koper, the final owner of which, among others, also became Minister Hojs, they summed up the case in their press release. As part of the preliminary examination, the Commission requested and obtained explanations and documentation from the Municipality of Koper and the Slovenian Institute of Auditors, checked the procedure for selling certain real estate, interviewed a real estate appraiser and inspected the publicly available data related to the case. In doing so, the KPK found that in the case in question, according to the information gathered, it was not possible to confirm that there were any violations that would fall within the authority of the Commission, so it stopped the proceedings.

Jure Tepina will not give up
STA then continues that the Commission detected certain risks, due to which it made recommendations to the municipality of Koper, to require contractors from whom it ordered the valuation of real estate for the purpose of conducting a public auction, to clearly state in the valuation report whether the determined price includes value-added tax or not.
As Jure Tepina, probably influenced by this ambiguously written, enigmatic article, continues to claim that the plot is developed and has all the utility installations set up already and that Minister Hojs paid the price without VAT when buying it, Minister Hojs took to Twitter to respond, writing that KPK found no violations in the case of his purchase of the plot of land. “This has, of course, not stopped the editor Jure Tepina from lying once again on the 24ur web portal, as he continues to claim that the plot has the utility installations and that I paid an amount which does not include VAT,” Hojs responded.
