The government has extended the state of epidemic by another 30 days

The government has decided to extend the state of epidemic by another 30 days effective as of 18 March. The government also adopted the Ordinance amending the Ordinance determining the conditions for entry into the Republic of Slovenia for the purpose of containment and control of the COVID-19 infectious disease.

The epidemic is still spreading rapidly among the population, far exceeding the usual morbidity or incidence rates. The current epidemiological situation regarding the spread of SARS-COV-2 infection requires another declaration of the epidemic for a limited period of time for the entire Slovenian territory, because all statistical regions have reached or exceeded the incidence rate which calls for declaring an epidemic.

The Slovenian Government adopted the Ordinance amending the Ordinance determining the conditions for entry into the Republic of Slovenia for the purpose of containment and control of the COVID-19 infectious disease. The amendment enters into force the day after its publication in the Official Gazette and applies until 19 March 2021.

The expert group did not accept the interior minister’s proposal to shorten the curfew and therefore the old one remains in place. The experts argued that the epidemic is still in full swing, and that a decision on whether or not to shorten the curfew will be made in two weeks’ time. In addition, the expert group did not support the proposal for owners of land on both sides of the border to be exempt from the weekly testing requirement, which means that as of 15 March 2021 this requirement continues to apply to them as well as other exceptional cases who are allowed to cross the border.
