In the last couple of months, the Slovenian national television, which is financed by all taxpayers, has shown us a lot of examples of shameful reporting, which has caused the fact that this institution is not in the service of all citizens, to become even more obvious. From the American elections to the Slovenian protests, the one thing you can rely on when it comes to RTV is – their left-wing bias.
The mainstream Slovenian media outlet, RTV Slovenia, which we all pay for, has long ago ceased to be in the service of all citizens – now, it only serves one part of our society. What is even worse is that not only is this public media outlet biased, but it is also actively involved in the promotion of verbal, and indirectly also physical violence against half of the Slovenian citizens.
Prime Minister Janez Janša has repeatedly pointed out RTV’s sins. This time, he once again tweeted about a new case of RTV’s participation in the promotion of violence against the taxpayers who think differently than RTV. He wrote that the national media outlet RTV Slovenia is actively promoting death threats against hundreds of thousands of Slovenian citizens, and also tagged the Vice-President of the European Commission, Vera Jourova in his post, as well as enclosed photographic evidence.
We strongly doubt that any of this will actually have an effect, but perhaps we will be surprised this time. Even though several people have already publicly stated that what they mean with the phrase “death to Janšaism” is actually “death to Janšaists,” so the supporters of Janez Janša, the transitional left and the central media still somehow continue to defend the narrative that this is an abstract slogan, addressing the ideology and not the people.
Just like one Twitter user commented, it seems that even in a large crowd, the RTV somehow manages to “stumble upon” the lone protesters with banners with threats against Janez Janša’s voters and Janša himself.
