Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša in a New Year's message: "When we come out of this war with the coronavirus, we will not think of suffering. We will be grateful for our health. And the good things that were born in these difficult times will be remembered for the rest of our days"

“We have some very demanding weeks ahead of us. But we will hold out. Three decades ago, we became an independent, sovereign nation that was able to consolidate its forces for a good common future. Today, as sovereign individuals, we know how to think with our owh head, without the help of TV screens. Let’s unite our ranks in the fight against the insidious disease, which is the same threat to all of us,” said the Prime Minister of Slovenia, Janez Janša, in his New Year’s message.

Dear Slovenes, dear fellow citizens,

a year is coming to an end that we will remember for the rest of our lives. The coronavirus epidemic has opened up a number of questions and dilemmas that we as a community have put off and pushed aside. Decades of unresolved problems have hit the surface with all their might.

Our primary concern at the time of the epidemic was human health. Then help the individuals, families, companies, societies and professional groups most affected by the epidemic. All with the aim of mitigating the consequences and preserving the potential of the Slovenian people and economy. We have adopted seven anti-corona packages worth over € 8 billion. There is a time when the state should interfere as little as possible in our daily lives. And there is a time when it can and must act. That’s why we have it. The epidemic is demanding action to protect health and lives, and the government has taken action.

We are facing the last third of the epidemic and then great efforts to recover as quickly as possible and grow again. In the coming years, money for the recovery will also be provided from European funds. I am proud that we have negotiated more than € 10 billion in the multiannual financial framework and the recovery package. This is the largest amount of funds that Slovenia has received so far from the European framework.

I thank all of you who, during these difficult times, worked for the common good, saved lives and, to a large extent, made it possible for us to live safely. I thank all of you who have acted responsibly towards yourself and others in the year that is coming to an end. I thank all of you who will be vaccinating yourself voluntarily in the coming months with effective vaccines that are the result of the tireless work of scientists not only in the last year, but are the result of decades of research, information sharing and free world discoveries. Vaccination will not only protect yourself, but also your loved ones and the community.

When we come out of this war with the coronavirus, we will not think of suffering. We will be grateful for our health. And the good things that were born in these difficult times will be remembered for the rest of our days.

Dear All!

We have some very demanding weeks ahead of us. But we will hold out. Three decades ago, we became an independent, sovereign nation that was able to consolidate its forces for a good common future. Today, as sovereign individuals, we know how to think with our owh head, without the help of TV screens. Let’s unite our ranks in the fight against the insidious disease, which is the same threat to all of us. Don’t be fooled by those who strain mosquitoes and let camels pass by.

Dear All!

May the New Year bring us all a warm and green spring as soon as possible, free of the virus and all the restrictions associated with it. But during the holidays, please take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Stay healthy and brave. Good luck.
